KDA will celebrate 10 years in 2025 and we are excited to bring back many of our past programs, including the JUST DANCE: Adult Pop-Up Dance Class Series that launched for the first time in 2019!
KDA is seeking Kern County dance educators and organizations to host adult dance classes throughout 2025 while being compensated by KDA for their time.
Did you know there is a large population of trained adult dancers yearning to take adult dance classes in our community? Additionally, there are also MANY that want to take their first steps on the dance floor! KDA is regularly asked about adult dance instruction in Kern County and we want to help your dance studio reach more potential students. To keep in step with our mission, KDA is proud to host the JUST DANCE in partnership with Kern County dance businesses.
You may have heard of a pop-up restaurant or store that opens quickly in a temporary amount of time. JUST DANCE is meant to pop-up at different dance organizations across Kern County giving visibility to a multitude of dance businesses throughout the county while also celebrating a diversity of dance styles. JUST DANCE will host one class a month at a different dance business providing adult dancers will the opportunity to visit a variety of locations all year long! JUST DANCE is a great opportunity for a dance organization to the “test the market” for adult classes while receiving compensation from KDA for their time.
KDA is seeking dance educators and organizations to provide exciting dance classes ranging in all styles and levels throughout 2025.
Application deadline: December 9, 2024.
JUST DANCE: Adult Pop-Up Dance Class Series:
Application Requirements:
Submit a completed JUST DANCE (below) which includes the following:
- Submit dance resume- including 3 references with contact information
- Submit 50 word bio
- Submit head shot and/or dance shot
- Submit an outline for proposed dance class
- Demonstrate willingness to assist KDA with overall event logistical elements
Submit your application by December 9. Candidates will be notified of selection by December 13.
Kern County Dance Educator/Organization Obligations:
- Dance Educator/Organization will choose one date to offer their classes
- Dance Educator/Organization will provide the location and dance studio to host 1 adult class
- Dance Educator/Organization will choose the type of class to offer
- Dance Educator/Organization will provide the dance instructor to teach the class
- Dance Educator/Organization will teach one style of dance while maintaining the format of class as described in application
KDA Obligations:
- KDA will compensate the dance educator and host location
- KDA will market the event to the Kern County community
- KDA will manage RSVPs for the classes
- KDA will provide a contact list and exit survey results to gauge the interest in offering consecutive adult dance classes for dance organization owners
Compensation:
- KDA will offer dance educators a $50 honorarium to teach one class.
- KDA will offer locations a $50 honorarium host one class.
