Andrea began training with the Royal Academy of Dance at age seven. She received her B.A. in Dance from Mercyhurst University and M.F.A. at the University of Arizona in Choreography. She has trained at the American Ballet Theater, San Francisco Conservatory of Dance, and Royal Academy of Dance Summer Schools. Andrea has performed professionally with the Lake Erie Ballet, Ballet Concerto, and Scorpius Dance Theater. For over a decade, Andrea has taught dance in higher education and continues to choreograph for California State University, Bakersfield. She currently serves on the Fox Theater Foundation Board of Directors, Kern Dance Alliance Board of Directors, and is a California Dance Education Association Member. She teaches regularly at Poise Pilates + Barre and is a proud wife and mother.
Fara Lundin is originally from South Africa, but has spent over half of her life in the United States based mainly in Florida, New York City and California. She began her ballet training at six years old in South Africa, danced with Fort Lauderdale Ballet Classique in high school and continued her dance education through college as a company member with Lake Erie Ballet; she received a B.A. in Dance from Mercyhurst University, double majored with Sociology and minored in Psychology and Criminology. Fara began to shift her involvement with the arts to the managerial side, eventually finding a passion and new career in business; with The Boston Consulting Group, Fara has worked in San Francisco, launched the Seattle branch from inception, and now holds a managerial position in the Los Angeles office.
Valerie was born in Santa Ana and raised in Bakersfield, California where she graduated from Bakersfield High School. She graduated from Bakersfield College with a degree in Business Administration. For ten years she was a seamstress for a local ballet company. During that time she made costumes for a wide range of shows including Alice in Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty and Swan Lake. She was also the Vice President of Kern Classical Ballet Company. She is currently semi-retired and is the Secretary for KDA. She enjoys her work as a fabric artist and sells her crafts at local vendor fairs.
Originally from Tulare, Diana has lived in Bakersfield for over 10 years and holds a deep love for the city. Although she recently joined a ladies and couples dance team, her passion for dancing began as a little girl. Diana is currently a Provider Relations Representative at Kern Health Systems. As a Board Member for Kern Dance Alliance, she looks forward to representing the Hispanic dance community with much enthusiasm.
Amy Adams, performer, country artist and youth mentor is most commonly known as a top ten finalist on the third season of the hit television show American Idol. She has toured the country multiple times with arena and stage shows, including her favorite starring role as the Narrator, in the North American tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Amy shares residence between Las Vegas, where she has been with the number one show Le Reve-The Dream at Wynn for the past four years; and Bakersfield where she resides with her family. She is a jury member for the Bakersfield Film Festival. She has started a successful voice studio and partnered with numerous organizations and schools to mentor children through the arts. In 2015, Amy was named the first Director of Arts Mentoring with Garden Pathways.
Andrea is a dancer, actor, comedian, and writer living in Los Angeles, CA. She has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Choreography from Arizona State University where she won the student category of the Arizona Choreography Competition in 2004. She danced professionally with Scorpius Dance Theater and Scandalesque Burleque. She taught dance at Peoria High School in Arizona for 4 years before moving to Los Angeles. In LA, Andrea has performed her stand-up comedy at legendary LA venues such as the Hollywood Improv and the Comedy Store. She writes and stars in her own webseries, “Louise and Myra”. Among blogging, writing, and performing either dance or theater, she hosts a comedy podcast geared toward women called “Inside the Box”.
Anne grew up in New Cuyama and began dancing when she moved to Bakersfield for college. Anne is a graduate of California State University, Bakersfield with a Master’s of Science in Geology and holds a permanent love of dance. She danced with the Bahiyya Almas Bellydance Company for several years before moving to the Bay area and falling in love with ballroom dancing. She has worked for Chevron as a geologist and petrophysicist for the last 13 years, and dances West Coast Swing, Salsa, Bachata, and Cumbia at local venues every chance she gets.
Marcie is a classical ballet dancer with 19 years of ballet training. An active volunteer and coach with the Miss America Organization (MAO), she has been the Executive Director of the Kern County Scholarship Association, interview specialist and image consultant for 5 years. Marcie has enjoyed her corporate careers as Senior Commercial Designer for Klassen Corporation CA, published author of Strength Training Made Simple by Marcie, Public Relations Coordinator for Walla Walla University WA, live television host for Blue Mountain Television WA, Administrative Assistant to the Vice President of Business Development at Hanford Community Medical Center CA, Administrative Assistant to the Chief of Medial Staff at San Joaquin Community Hospital. Recently Marcie became the Owner of ValMar Health LLC.
Trisha was born and raised in Bakersfield. She has been talking ballet since she was five years old. Ballet is her favorite type of dance and she takes every opportunity to dance and bring that passion and joy to others. Trisha works as a kindergarten teacher in a local school district and loves teaching her students the importance of setting goals and never giving up. Her biggest goal in her career is to encourage and help students love school. She attended California State University Bakersfield to achieve her Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies and Teaching Credential.
Crystal graduated from California State University Bakersfield with a Bachelors of Arts in communications and a minor in art. Throughout her college career she taught dance for Dancesteps Studios where she previously studied. After receiving her BA, Crystal earned a spot with the Los Angeles Laker Girls. She has danced professionally for many events, television shows and teams. She now works as a pharmaceutical sales representative in Bakersfield. She is honored to be part of growing the Kern County dance community.
Whitney grew up dancing in Bakersfield under the instruction of Georgia Peck and Brandy Stiles. She competed in dance across California, and was selected for Team Rave LA in 2003 where she performed for many charity organizations and fundraisers. While attending CSU Chico for her Bachelors in Psychology, Whitney was a member of the Chico State Dance Team and was a dancer, choreographer and director of Chico Dance Theater. In addition to performing in musical theater, she has taught dance and choreographed for many groups both locally and in Northern California. She is currently a high school counselor and health education teacher, and hopes to share her love for performing arts with her students and the Kern County community.
Natalie has been training in dance for 11 years. She has trained at Dancers Turnout Academy, Bakersfield Dance Company, and Civic Dance Center. She has attended the California State Summer School of the Arts as a Dance Major and will attend the San Francisco Conservatory of Dance in the summer of 2017. She will be a senior at Bakersfield High School this coming up fall and is involved in many clubs on campus such as, Student Council, French Honors Society, and Valkyries (an all-girls community service group). Natalie is also a Co-Lead mentor for the Kern County Branch of the SHINE for Girls: MATH + DANCE = SUCCESS program and recently won the title of Distinguished Young Women, Bakersfield.
