Bakersfield City Ballet presents “Ethereal Visions”
May 3, 2019 @ 7:00 pm$25 – $35
Bakersfield City Ballet (BCB) presents Ethereal Visions, a live art performance curated by BCB’s Artistic Director Erica Ueberroth featuring four original works from various choreographers, each showcasing different styles, themes, and stories.
BCB is Bakersfield’s premier pre-professional ballet company. Their mission is to inspire and enrich our community and foster a love for the arts in youth through dance. BCB is committed to accomplishing this mission by making ballet accessible to the widest possible audience through annual performances, educational programs, media, and other outreach efforts. As a pre-professional company BCB serves as a stepping stone between studio training and a college dance program or professional contract. Their annual performances provide a live artistic cultural experience for our community with an emphasis on classical and contemporary styles of dance.
The program for Ethereal Visions 2019 is as follows:
Beaucoup de Cordes is a lively, classical work, staged by Artistic Director, Erica Ueberroth, and set to music by Vivaldi. This 20-minute piece consisting of seven movements features challenging musical nuances and difficult technical pointe work sure to delight audiences and keep them on their toes.
Reverie, by guest choreographer Kellie St. Pierre, moves audiences through the different levels of a dream state consciousness. With her contemporary and modern movement influences, Kellie’s work captivates audiences with fluid grace, unusual props, and unique costumes.
Remembrances, an award-winning piece by BCB Ballet Mistress Alicia Angelini, has been re-staged and expanded for this performance. It explores the many emotions one might feel if forced to leave their home—denial, anger, sadness, fear, confusion— and the human spirit’s ability to find hope in the direst of circumstances.
Everybody Jota, is choreographed by BCB Ballet Mistress Ann Conrad, a piece that uniquely combines a love of her Basque heritage and her passion for ballet technique.
Bakersfield City Ballet elevates the art scene in Bakersfield by showcasing the grace and poise of local performing artists while encouraging creativity in our patrons. Company members and artistic faculty also participate throughout the year in community outreach efforts with the intention of inspiring and cultivating a love for the arts through dance. As a non- profit organization, BCB relies on the generosity of our patrons and sponsors to continue to build a strong presence for dance and the arts in our community. Attendance at this event is one of many ways patrons can show their love for this glorious art form and help support its growth.
